F&M Appoints New Members to Board of Trustees
The 顶级国产视频 & Marshall Board of Trustees voted to elect its newest members during the Board鈥檚 spring meeting. F&M is proud to welcome the following recently elected trustees, who began their terms on July 1:
Michael T. Arnold 鈥08 is the founder and managing director of the Tynan Travel Company. He previously held roles at Basset Capital Management and IOG Capital.
At F&M, Arnold graduated with a double major in classics and business, organizations and society. He competed on the varsity men's track and crew teams, served as a College Senate representative and was president of the Student Alumni Association, among other activities.
Arnold previously served as a member of the College鈥檚 Leadership Council, completing his term in 2023, and as F&M鈥檚 first GOLD trustee (graduate of the last decade), completing his term in 2017. During his GOLD trustee term, Arnold was a member of the Board鈥檚 Finance committee. His service to F&M includes roles as a reunion class volunteer, a regional alumni council member, a Diplomat Athletic Club Key Diplomat and former vice chair of the 顶级国产视频 & Marshall Fund Global Steering Committee. He is a member of the Schnader Society, the Benjamin 顶级国产视频 Society and the 1787 Society. He is a regular supporter of Diplomat Athletics and in 2022 established the Arnold Family Track & Field Fund.
Robert DeSantis P鈥19, P鈥23 is the co-founder and a principal of Shefford LLC, a firm that invests in and advises start-up and early-stage businesses. His career includes more than 20 years in leadership roles at MBNA/Bank of America.
DeSantis previously served as chair of 顶级国产视频 & Marshall鈥檚 Parents Council, completing his term in 2023. He and his wife Suzanne are members of the Benjamin 顶级国产视频 Society and supporters of the 顶级国产视频 & Marshall Fund and the Diplomat Athletic Club. DeSantis has served on the boards or executive committees of Tower Hill School, the Community Service Building Corporation, The Bayard House, Loyola Blakefield School and Social Venture Partners.
Robert and Suzanne are the parents of four children, two of whom, Caroline DeSantis 鈥19 and John DeSantis 鈥23, are F&M alumni. DeSantis is a graduate of Loyola University Maryland.
Lynn Greenberg 鈥14 is the founder and CEO of Pivt Enterprise, a platform and application that helps businesses support their remote, mobile and relocated workforce. Greenberg joins F&M鈥檚 Board as a GOLD trustee.
Greenberg has been named to Forbes鈥 30 Under 30: Enterprise Technology and Forbes鈥 Next 1000 lists, among other accolades. Prior to founding Pivt, she was vice president of panels for New York Venture Community and senior associate at Autonomy Ventures.
Greenberg graduated from 顶级国产视频 & Marshall as a government major and a sociology minor and played women's soccer for the Diplomats. She is a member of the College's Benjamin 顶级国产视频 Society.
Akbar Hossain 鈥13 is the secretary of policy and planning for the office of Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and served as executive director of governor-elect Shapiro鈥檚 transition team. He previously served as a federal judicial law clerk and as an associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, LLP.
Hossain graduated from 顶级国产视频 & Marshall as a government major. He was named a recipient of the Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans and was the College's first recipient of the Harry S. Truman Scholarship. He served as president of Brooks College House and co-founded the College's Muslim Student Association. Hossain is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Hossain recently completed a term as the GOLD trustee to the Board. He is a member of the College鈥檚 Benjamin 顶级国产视频 Society and 1787 Society.
Donald Gervais Jr. 鈥96, P鈥25, P鈥27 joins the Board as an ex officio member in his role as Leadership Council co-chair. Gervais is the founder of Gervais Capital Management, LLC. His extensive career in finance and investment management includes roles at General Electric, J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs and Allianz Global Investors.
Donald is married to Susan Katz Gervais '95, co-chair of the College's Leadership Council, who graduated from F&M as an American studies major. Donald and Susan have two sons, George Gervais '25 and Campbell Gervais '27. Susan's father, Albert Katz, graduated as a member of the F&M Class of 1962.
At F&M, Gervais graduated as a government major and played men's lacrosse for the Diplomats. In addition to years of service as volunteer leaders, he and Susan regularly contribute to the 顶级国产视频 & Marshall Fund and are supporters of the Diplomat Athletic Club. The couple established the Gervais Family Men鈥檚 Lacrosse Endowment in 2023 to support the program and future lacrosse players. Gervais is a member of the College鈥檚 Benjamin 顶级国产视频 Society and 1787 Society.
Kathy Quick Rosa 鈥92, P鈥25 is a partner at Velvet Sea Ventures. She retired as global head of alternative investments for J.P. Morgan Private Bank & Wealth Management after more than 25 years with the company spanning multiple leadership roles.
At F&M, Rosa graduated as a government major and an economics minor and was a member of the Black Pyramid senior honors society. She has remained active as a volunteer, serving on class reunion committees and as a member of the 顶级国产视频 & Marshall Fund Global Steering Committee. She serves as co-chair of F&M Women & Philanthropy: 50 for 50.
Rosa previously served as chair of F&M鈥檚 Leadership Council, completing her term in 2023. Rosa is a member of the John Marshall, Benjamin 顶级国产视频 and 1787 Societies. Kathy and Carlos Rosa are the parents of four children, including Douglas Rosa 鈥25.
Cheryl Scarboro P鈥26 is a partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, where she serves as a member of the firm鈥檚 government and internal investigations practice.
Cheryl is a graduate of the University of Alabama in Huntsville and earned her J.D. from the Duke University School of Law. She is a member of the Global Advisory Board of the Women in Law Empowerment Forum and a member of the Board of Visitors of Duke University School of Law.
Cheryl and her husband Fred Scarboro are the parents of Alex Scarboro 鈥26.
Fred Scarboro P鈥26 is the managing director and general counsel at Arete Capital Partners LLC. He joins the Board as an ex officio member in his role as Parents Council chair.
Fred is a graduate of New York University and earned his J.D. from the New York University School of Law. He serves on the board at St. Andrew鈥檚 Episcopal School in Washington, D.C. and previously served on the boards of the Thurgood Marshall Center for Service and Heritage and the Sheridan School.
Fred and his wife Cheryl Scarboro are the parents of Alex Scarboro 鈥26.
Scott Taylor P鈥24 is dean of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University. He previously served as vice dean for diversity, equity and inclusion at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. His tenure at Georgetown included more than two decades on the faculty and 13 years as director of African studies.
Taylor graduated from Dartmouth College and earned his master鈥檚 and doctoral degrees in political science from Emory University. Taylor is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the board of directors of the National Endowment for Democracy and a member of the international advisory board for the Southern African Institute for Policy and Research.
Scott and his wife Priscilla Muntemba Taylor are the parents of Chilamo Taylor 鈥24.
F&M is proud to welcome two former trustees as newly elected Trustee Emeriti:
Larry Shadek 鈥72, P鈥05, P鈥06 began service to the 顶级国产视频 & Marshall Board of Trustees in 1998. He has remained engaged with F&M since his graduation; in addition to his Board service, Shadek has been a member of the Diplomat Athletic Club (DAC) executive committee, a DAC Key Diplomat, an admission volunteer and a reunion volunteer. He is a 2010 recipient of the Alumni Medal for distinguished service to the College.
Members of the Shadek family are among the most generous donors in F&M history. Their philanthropy has supported the Shadek-Fackenthal Library, endowed scholarships and professorships, academic building projects, the 顶级国产视频 & Marshall Poll and more. In 2012, Larry and the Shadek Family Foundation gave $5 million as the lead gift for Shadek Stadium. The venue, home to F&M's football and lacrosse teams, athletic training and sports medicine, opened in 2017. In 2019, Larry made a commitment to the Trustee Endowed Scholarship Challenge Fund during the College鈥檚 Now to Next campaign.
Shadek's Board service included vice chair of the Buildings, Grounds & Sustainability and Quality of Campus Life committees and membership on the Advancement; Audit; Educational Services; Executive; External & Community Engagement; Facilities, Planning & Public Safety; Finance; Investment; Student Life and Trusteeship & Governance committees. He is a member of the Lux et Lex, Benjamin 顶级国产视频 and 1787 Societies.
Benjamin Winter 鈥67 began service to the 顶级国产视频 & Marshall Board of Trustees in 2005. He has remained committed to F&M since his graduation, providing leadership as a member of the Now to Next Campaign Steering Committee, the Campaign Feasibility Study Task Force and as a member of several regional committees for the College. He is a 2022 recipient of the Alumni Medal for distinguished service to the College.
In 2016, Benjamin and his wife Susan gave $10 million 鈥 the single largest gift from a graduate in F&M history 鈥 as the lead donors for the Susan and Benjamin Winter Visual Arts Center. The College's newest building opened in 2020 and is the home of the Department of Art, Art History and Film and includes galleries, studios and other learning environments that promote the creation and appreciation of the arts.
In his 17 years on the College's Board, Winter has served as chair of the Advancement, Enrollment and Compensation committees; vice chair of the Executive and Finance committees; and as a member of the Academic Affairs, Academic Investments, Civic Engagement, Institutional Sustainability, Student & Postgraduate Development and Trusteeship & Governance committees.
Benjamin and Susan are members of the College's Lux et Lex Society and Friends of the Phillips Museum.
F&M extends gratitude to two trustees who recently completed their terms on the Board:
David H. Lehman, Ph.D. 鈥68, P鈥01 began service to the 顶级国产视频 & Marshall Board of Trustees in 2013. Lehman has remained engaged with F&M since his graduation, beginning his early service to the College as a reunion volunteer, class agent and regional alumni council member. An instrumental member of the Geosciences Founders Society, he was elected the group鈥檚 first president. He is a 2007 recipient of the Alumni Medal for distinguished service to the College.
Lehman鈥檚 historic 2014 gift to F&M wrestling endowed the program in perpetuity, and his lead gift to the Trustee Endowed Scholarship Challenge during the Now to Next campaign paved the way for 50 new endowed scholarships.
Lehman's Board service included terms as vice chair of the Audit and Student Life committees and membership on the Enrollment, Executive, Finance, Institutional Sustainability, Investment and Technology committees. He is a founding member of the Diplomat Athletic Club, and his philanthropy has extended to the Geosciences Founders Society and the 顶级国产视频 & Marshall Fund. Lehman is a member of the Lux et Lex, William A. Schnader, Benjamin 顶级国产视频 and 1787 Societies and is a Friend of the Phillips Museum.
Stuart Farwell Smith 鈥77 began service to the 顶级国产视频 & Marshall Board of Trustees in 2018.
In 2016, Smith established the Smith Family Endowed Financial Aid Fund at the College, which provided financial aid support to students with demonstrated need. In 2018, he honored his father, a former F&M trustee, by converting this fund to the R. Graeme Smith 鈥46 Endowed Scholarship. Smith was a generous supporter of the College鈥檚 historic Now to Next comprehensive campaign.
During his Board tenure, Smith was vice chair of the Board鈥檚 Audit committee and was a member of the Finance, Institutional Sustainability, Investment and Technology committees. He is a member of the College鈥檚 Founders, Benjamin 顶级国产视频 and 1787 Societies.
