Biography


Mark Yingling, percussionist, conductor, and music educator, earned a Bachelor of Music in Percussion from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Music in Wind Conducting from the Pennsylvania State University. He recently completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Wind Conducting from Peabody/JHU. He studied percussion with Jonathan Haas and William Moersch, and conducted with Dennis Glocke and Harlan Parker. He has taught percussion and percussion methods at Millersville University and introductory music courses at the Penn State York and Lancaster campuses.


As a percussionist and timpanist, Mr. Yingling has performed locally with the Lancaster Symphony, Reading Symphony, Allegro Chamber Orchestra, Reading Pops Orchestra, Music at Gretna Festival Chamber Orchestra, Wheatland Chorale, Harrisburg Choral Society, and the Lancaster Opera Company. He is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda national music honor society, and was a finalist for the 1997 Thelma Robinson Award of the Conductors Guild.


Mr. Yingling is also a music educator in the Schuylkill Valley School District where he teaches woodwind, brass, and percussion lessons and directs concert and jazz bands. He has been a member of the Pennsylvanika Music Educators Association, the Percussive Arts Society, the Conductors Guild, and the International Association of Jazz Educators.
